I agree with you that Rochester reads as repentent. I love him so much! Do you have a favorite film adaptation of Jane Eyre? (Mine is the Ruth Wilson/Toby Stephens one. So so good!)
I haven't seen that one, but now I think I will! The only one I've seen is the 2011 one, and I liked it ok. I probably watched it too soon after reading the book, so I was picky.
I get that! I haven't really liked any of the others as much. The Ruth Wilson one takes a few liberties, but I feel like it works, and it's the only version that I feel has the level of passion and intensity that the book has.
