I was just introduced to poet Bernadette Mayer via Mason Currey’s newsletter, Subtle Maneuvers. Mayer’s extensive list of writing prompts for journals, poetry, and every other kind of writing is refreshing. I’d love to give a couple of these a try with my students, especially as a palate cleanser after writing assignments that demand more rigid structures and instructions. Here are a few:
